Stephen was born 28 Jan 1849*.  I suspect that he died in infancy. He could have been born in Johnson County or Benton County, Missouri.  Stephen is not listed in any census records with William and Irene, including the one taken in June 1850.  His name is found in Pioneer History of Coos and Curry Counties, Oregon, by Orvil Dodge (page 98), where he is listed as deceased.
